On the 15th of August next round of WA Innovation Vouchers Program was officially opened by Science and Innovation Minister John Day. This is a third round, of Western Australian Government initiative aims to boost innovation and speed up commercialisation.
During first and second round more than $500,000 was provided to WA- based Small to Medium Businesses to help them progress their innovation and bring their ideas to the market.
Innovation Vouchers are available to WA businesses in all sectors and covering wide spectrum of activities. Latest round recipients shown that financial assistance of $20,000 can help to develop and turn into reality broad range of ideas, some of them includes:
Cocky Smart Pty Ltd received funding to commercialise their safe and effective repellent against flystrike in sheep.
No-Rock Cafe Tables Pty Ltd received grant to engage industrial agency to help in the production of a device to stabilise table legs.
Globaltech Corporation Pty Ltd received funding for ‘Markitwrite’ – an innovative core-sample marking device.
Australian Grown Superfoods Pty Ltd benefited from the grant to establish an Australian-based industry for Quinoa – new wave of super food.
Wintermute Metals Pty Ltd obtained funding for development of environmentally friendly process to recycle platinum group metals from car wrecks and exhausts for re-use.
Agworld Pty Ltd received funding to increase capabilities of the software that captures shares and manages data for the agricultural industry.
If you have an idea that requires a financial boost to be turned into more than just a dream then Innovation Vouches Program is suitable for you and could give you a chance to do that.
The grants of $ 20,000 are offered to all WA based Small to Medium Businesses, that employs less than 200 people and has the ABN. Closing date for current round is 27th of September 2012.
Activities covered by this grant include:
- research and development, e.g. technical development and testing
- product development ,e.g. engineering design work
- technology transfer and IP, for example : legal advice, protection of intellectual property, licencing
- commercialisation support services like engaging innovation management or consulting
