If you have an idea that could make a difference, The Australian Innovation Challenge is now open for submissions and will showcase the best and brightest Australia has to offer.

If you have an idea that could make a difference, The Australian Innovation Challenge is now open for submissions and will showcase the best and brightest Australia has to offer.
The awards aim to drive some of Australia’s best ideas to commercialisation or adoption.
The Australian Innovation Challenge is open to both individuals and teams in a range of professional categories and one general public category:

  • Environment, Agriculture and Food
  • Community Services: Health, Education and Public Services
  • Minerals and energy
  • Manufacturing, Construction and Infrastructure
  • ICT
  • Young Innovators Award
  • Backyard Innovation

Categories for the grant:

  • A winner from each category will be selected and awarded a cash prize of $5,000
  • Each professional category winner becomes eligible for the final round of judging, with the overall winner being awarded a further $25,000 cash prize
  • In the Backyard Innovation category, judges will select five finalists to be published in The Weekend Australian and online. From this set of finalists, the judges will select an overall winner to receive a cash prize of $10,000.
  • The best entries will be featured in The Weekend Australian over several weeks to get the message out. They will also be showcased in multi-media presentations on the website and in a dedicated Australian Innovation Challenge magazine.
  • Whether you’re a professional scientist, an engineer or a creative genius tinkering in your backyard shed, anyone can enter.
  • From the nation’s biggest laboratories to the backyard sheds of Australia
  • Is open to both individuals and teams in a range of professional categories and one general public category.
